Third Party Reproduction!

शीर्षक वाचून काही जणांचा समज झाला असेल की लेख कुठल्या तरी वेगळ्या विषयावर आहे…..म्हणजे real estate किंवा काहितरी legal वगैरे! पण लेख infertility च्याच विषयाला धरून आहे.

Reproduction किंवा प्रजननासाठी egg आणि sperm या दोन गोष्टींची आवश्यकता असते. Egg/अंड स्त्रीच्या शरीरात तयार होतं आणि sperms/शुक्राणु पुरुषांच्या. Infertility ची अनेक कारणे असू शकतात. Eggs अथवा sperms कमी असणे हे त्यापैकी एक !

स्त्री जन्माला येतानाच तिच्या बिजकोषात सर्व eggs सुप्त स्वरूपात घेऊन येते. Menarche नंतर यातिलच eggs दर महिन्याला वाढतात आणि वापरली जातात. आणि हा साठा /egg reserve संपला की काही वर्षानी menopause येतो. साधारण वयाच्या चाळीशी नंतर अशी वेळ येते. पण कधी काही unknown कारणांमुळे हा egg reserve कमी वयातच संपतो. तर पुरुषांच्या बाबतीत शुक्राणु/sperm production आयुष्यभर चालू असतं . पण तरीही काही कारणामुळे ही process थांबू शकते.

जोडप्या मधील स्त्री किंवा पुरुष, एका सोबत देखील या पैकी काही घडलं असेल तर अर्थातच त्यांना pregnancy साठी egg donor अथवा sperm donor ची गरज भासू शकते , आणि अशा प्रकार च्या pregnancy ला आपण third party reproduction हे नाव देतो.

Treatment चा हा प्रकार कायद्याने संमत आहे, safe आहे आणि त्यासाठी ठरलेली procedure आहे. Egg अथवा sperm donor च्या सर्व tests करून च treatment केली जाते. आतापर्यंत जगभरात लाखो मुले या पद्धतीने जन्माला आलेली आहेत. तुम्हाला जर या पैकी कुठली treatment लागणार असेल तर तुमचे doctor तुम्हाला pre treatment counseling मध्ये या बाबत सर्व माहिती देतील. तर कुठून ऐकलेल्या माहिती वर विश्वास ठेवू नका, doctor कडून सर्व समजावून घ्या आणि treatment ला सामोरे जा. For a pregnancy to happen two things are needed, egg and sperm. Egg is contributed by the female partner and sperm by male partner . Whenenver a woman is borne, she is borne with a fixed number of eggs. From this storage each month few eggs are utilised after her menarche. When the store gets over she gets menopause. Usually low egg reserve is expected around at 40 years age, but sometimes due to some unknown reasons even younger women encounter such problem . While in males the sperm production is a continuous process, which is usually not age dependent. Still due to some reasons the sperm production may get affected.

Whenever a couple faces this problem of low or absent egg reserve or sperm count they may have to take the assistance of egg or sperm donor for getting pregnant. This type of treatment is labelled as third party reproduction.

Such treatments are safe ,legal and they are done following strict protocols. All the donors have to undergo certain tests before donating.
